Global temperatures drop significantly

I was shocked to hear in the New York Times today that global temperatures dropped so much during recent readings at all four locations where global temperatures are measured, that it pretty much wipes out an entire centuries worth of temperature rise.

Oops, I didn't read that in the New York Times. I learned about it from a co-worker, who learned about it from Fox News. I don't watch Fox News, so I didn't here this. So I looked it up on the Internet, and, lo and behold, my source was correct.

According to Daily Tech.com, global temperatures at all four locations global temperatures are measured (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) showed smilar drops in temperatures from 0.66 to 0.75 decrees celcius.

These temperature drops are "enough to wipe out most of the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year's time. For all four sources, it's the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down."

You'd think that a drop this significant would be all over the news. You'd think that even while I get most of my news from CNN something of this caliber would not have slipped by me for over two weeks. This information was released in the last week of February 2008.

This information, coupled with the fact that China reported its coldest winter in 100 years, Bagdad saw snow for the first time in recorded history, many places in the U.S. and around the world have recorded record snow levels or record low temperature levels, and record levels of Arctic sea ice, is "anectotal" and "scientific" evidence that the planet is showing signs of cooling.

This imfortaion does not shock me, but the fact that I didn't hear about this on CNN, or on NBC where I've watched the evening news every day lately, is shocking to me.

How could information like this go unreported? How could this not make the headline news?
