We can & must drill for oil in the U.S.

A good point I just read over at NRO.com by Victor Davis Hanson, "A New Deal on Energy," is that if we make it hard to drill for oil in the U.S., and we still use oil to keep our economy going, then we are ultimately "encouraging it everywhere else in the world.

Thus, if oil is so bad for the environment, and it our planet that we all have to live in and be responsible for, why is it okay to drill for oil anywhere but in the U.S.?

Go figure that one out. Personally, I think we are the US of A, and in this country, we have the power and the ability to create anything we want, so why can't we find a way to drill for oil in this country, and make it work.

"But we can't," so many people contend. "If we dig for oil, we won't be able to reap the profits for another ten years anyway."

How many times in this country been pessimistic like this, only for some entrepreneur prove them wrong. Someone in 1900 said something like, "If we double the number of cars today in ten years, we won't have enough oil to feed these cars."

Well, we have 300,000 times the number of cars today as in 1900, and we still haven't' run out of oil.

I may not be accurate on my stats here, but my point is the same: pessimism does not equal progress. If you want something, you need to go out and grab it and make it possible.

To wrap up this post, I'd like to quote Rush Limbaugh, because I think he says it best:

The leftists in the Democrat Party, are all saying, "Well, this is just ridiculous. Drilling is not the answer." And they've got this pet phrase that's designed to discourage the whole notion of drilling. "We can't drill our way out of this," is their phrase, we can't drill our way out of this. Let me ask you people something. We are citizens of what? The United States of America. Now, since when are we gonna allow ourselves to be led by a bunch of people who say we can't, when it comes to something that we've already done and that we have excelled at? When did we decide we want to be led by a bunch of people that say that we are in a constant state of decline and that we deserve to be in a constant state of decline? When did we decide that we're going to be led by a bunch of people that say "we can't"? In your personal life, do you hang around with people who say, "You can't do that. We can't do that." That's not inspiring. Why in the name of hell would people vote for people who would tell you, we can't do that? We can't drill our way out of this. Yes, the hell we can. It's that simple. And, yes, the hell we should. It's that simple. Drill here. Drill now. Pay less. We're the United States of America. We can do it.

Rush here is referring to liberal democrats, but I would like to extend what he says to democrats and republicans alike who refuse to believe we can't work our way out of this oil-energy crisis without raising taxes, adding government regulations, and relying on foreign totalitarian dictator countries for oil.

I'm not implying that drilling for oil in the U.S. is the end all solution to the energy crisis, but it will be a start.

One thing I can tell you, drilling for oil in the U.S. will finally put an end to American monies going to thug nations in the Middle East, while at the same time easing the pain at the pump.

I know I've stated alternative plans for ending the energy crisis, but the best solution, in my humble opinion, is to drill for oil on our own land.

We must stop listening to the people who tell us we can't, and start listening to the people who tell us we can. That's why we must drill for oil now. We are America. We are the most innovative nation in the history of the world. We can do it.

And that is the thought of the day.

You'd think that McCain and Obama as Senators would say hey we are still in congress let's do something and put our money where our mouth is...Like your previous post said its a do nothing congress. and americans think the democrats are the party of change...no they are waiting for their democrat President to start chopping. Nice that they could waste 2 years of tax payer money. keep drilling on the drilling! :)N

As I said over at the Pondering Penguin, I've been waiting for the American people to get united, to stand up as one, against the Left. I never thought that oil and gas prices would do it.

Yet, I hear from people across the US who are getting behind the Drill Here, Drill Now project.

We may see a revolution of Conservatives yet.

Thanks for visiting at my place
