Conservatives know liberalism like the backs of their hands, but liberals don't know conservatism

I was debating politics with a liberal friend from Detroit and he said, "None of my friends from Detroit think the way you do, and therefore you're wrong."  I believed him then as much as I believe what he said today.  He was telling the truth, because most liberals shield their kids from conservative thought.  They ban their kids from watching Fox News, or Rush Limbaugh, or the Wall Street Journal, or any other place where conservative thought might be shared.  They don't want their kids to see any other way of thinking other than liberalism.  In other words, they want to brainwash their kids.

If you listen to liberals they want to ban all conservative speech.  They want to indoctrinate kids with anti capitalist and pro-environment movies like the Lorax.  They indoctrinate kids in schools with pro-global warming, capitalism is bad gobly-gook.  They want all kids to be raised as good little liberals and socialists.

And I'm not saying that all bad, if you truly believe those things. And it's exactly for this reason liberals hate conservatism, because conservatism believes every individual should be taught every idea and each individual should make up his or her own mind to be a liberal, conservative, libertarian, or whatever.  Liberals just want you to be liberal.  Conservatives want you to choose.

As a liberal parent you don't have to worry about your kids learning about conservatism, because you can just black it out.  It's taught by Hollywood and by schools.  As a conservative parent you have liberalism forced on your kids.  It's everywhere.  They get taught it in schools and at movie theaters.  It's up to conservative parents to explain liberalism to their kids, and therefore conservatives know liberals and liberalism as well as they know conservatism.

Yet liberals are stuck in the liberal world, and know not conservatism.  It's just the way it is.  That's why a conservative is open minded about free speech and hearing different points of view, and liberals hate opposing points of view.  They want to shut it up.  Conservatives are tolerant of opposing views because they've had them forced down their throats all their lives, yet liberals are sheltered and therefore less tolerant to opposition.  That's why conservatives are less angry during debates than liberals.

So the bottom line is that conservatives understand liberalism, liberals don't understand conservatism.  Now that's as a rule of thumb, there's always an exception to every rule.  So in this way I understand why my friend from Detroit didn't understand my conservative thought, and I understood his.  He was sheltered from Conservatism his entire life, he even read about it in liberal newspapers like the Detroit Free Press.

I remember one time when I was debating with him about some topic, he said, "You're wrong.  My viewpoint is even proven here in the Detroit Free Press.  Find your point of view in the freep, he said, you can't do it.

Well, that was before the advent of the Internet, talk radio, and conservative books.  That was before conservatives were given a voice in America.  That was back when the only TV news programs were CBS, NBC and ABC.  That was then.  This is now.  And it's made conservatives all the better and more tolerant of liberals.  It's given us an advantage to go against their advantage of having access to liberal satellites called the mainstream media, schools, and Hollywood.
