I'm off to hunting camp

As much as I'd like to, I will not be watching the VP debates tonight. I will be out at my family cabin in the middle of the woods.

It's kind of a cool place to hang out. We do not have electricity, but we DO have a TV set up that works just fine. We even have an antenae that shoots out almost to the height of the trees. So we get pretty good reception.

The TV is hooked up to a car battery outside. Inside the cabin, behind the TV, is a little box with an alarm that will go off when the car battery is getting low. When it goes off one of us runs out to turn the car on to recharge the battery.

We have a large fluorescent light on the ceiling also hooked up to the battery so we can play cards with good lighting even late into the night.

In front of us is a huge picture window where we can see deep into the woods. On a good day, when the men aren't being rowdy, sometimes we can see deer. One day about 10 years ago, but not during hunting camp, we had 30 deer.

It's a pretty cool place to hang out.

So I just want you to know if you're wondering why I haven't been blogging, or responding to your excellent comments, that's where I am.
