People are not brainwashed, or mind numbed robots, who listen to men like Rush Limbaugh on the radio or Glenn Beck on Fox News, as many liberals will contend. We are not brainwashed any more than the average citizen is who watches CBS News or CNN.
The truth is, we watch or listen to opinion shows not because we want to learn what we do not already know, but to have our views heard. It's nice to hear people saying things that we believe to be true. It's nice to hear mainstream opinions in the media, as opposed to only the liberal view. That, I believe, is the main reason why Conservative media is killing in the ratings.
Likewise, reason number 2 is because men like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh help us to articulate our opinions. Our beliefs and principles are already formed before we start watching these shows, yet we, as average busy and hard working Americans, don't have time to analyze the news, or, as Bill O'Reilly notes, keep an eye on the powerful.
We don't have time to do that, and these guys do. So once they do the research, the analyzing, they report back to us so we don't have to. That's another powerful reason we love to watch Fox News, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, and Rush Limbaugh and their kin. We love the help articulating our opinions.
We love the helping hand in joining the debate to help us convince people of the principles we have had since we were children, and our American Ancestors held since the formation of this great nation.
