Attitudes kill, not weapons and not society

Tucson killer Jared Loughner appears to have been a very troubled and mentally disturbed person. He tried to assassinate Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and probably succeeded in changing her life forever. He also succeeded in killing six others, including a nine year old girl.

Yet, to make matters worse, progressives in Washington and around the world are making gallant attempts at trying to link Jared's actions with conservative activism. They have even tried to blame Sarah Palin, and to put her on the defense.

They tried to blame this on the conservative movement, to talk radio, to Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck and the Tea Party movement.

While new polls show 57% of Americans don't buy it, the onslaught continues. Thankfully the left no longer has a monopoly on the news.

There is no doubt this young man was troubled. Now there is "speculation" that the parents might have been somehow involved in the "derangement" of this kid. To read a good discussion about this click here.

However, accusations by the liberal (progressive) media, progressive Senators and Congressmen, including progressives in Europe, are unfounded. There is not one iota of proof there is any link between the conservative movement and the actions by Jared.

Of course now there is the effort by Congressmen and Senators to think, "Aha, here's our chance to do something. Here's our chance to get one of our progressive laws passed."

We know that the progressive strategy is to cause chaos at the bottom, and then to have people at the top come up with the solutions. Obama is at the top, and so are some other pretty powerful progressives.

The goal is to make us think there is a public outcry when there isn't.

Jared stirred up chaos at the bottom (a grassroots movement perhaps), and now our heroic progressive Congressmen have the solution.

They blame guns. If he had not been able to gain legal access to the weapons he used (the clips or whatever), this wouldn't have happened. The culprit here is guns, they say. So now they have the solution: to make it harder to obtain such weapons.

They think we'll support it because we are supposed to believe there is this public outcry.

This is a feel good strategy. Personally I don't see why anyone would want or need the type of weapons Jared used, yet to use this as a reason to make another law (more power to the Fed and less to you and me) seems ridiculous and dangerous.

Glenn Beck reminded us that in 1988 gun crimes were up in Chicago. So the progressives there decided to ban guns altogether. The result of this was that gun crimes skyrocketed 60%, and Chicago was one of the leading cities for gun crimes.

The ban made it to the Supreme Court, and the High Court "shot down" (excuse the pun) the ban on the grounds it lacked common sense. The court stated that it is not guns that kill, people kill.

I know that's a bumper sticker slogan, but the moral here is that if you want to prevent gun crimes it's not the gun laws that need changing, it's the attitudes of the people.

Making another law to make it harder to obtain guns basically tramples on the Constitution. How does trampling on the Constitution prevent gun crimes? So what we learned from Chicago is that you can take away the guns, but people will still commit gun crimes.

Another Congressman proposed a law that would make it illegal to speak bad about elected officials, that symbols also should be banned. Beck notes this would lead to a slippery slope. If the government can decide what guns we can and can't have, what symbols we can use, then what is next.

If guns are bad, what's to stop Congress from making other things that are bad illegal. Depression is bad, he said, so why not ban depression. Sadness is bad, so lets ban sadness. Symbols are bad. Conservative talk radio is bad. Knives are bad. God is bad. Guns are bad. Church is bad. Machine guns are bad. Talk radio is bad.

The Cross is a symbol of the church. Jesus was crucified.

The list goes on. The idea here is that if you allow the Fed to make a law, then the Fed gets to decide what is legal and what is not.

Yet at the same time it's okay to allow kids to listen to any music they want, or to play video games where the characters rape women and kill cops. It's okay to take away prayer in school. It's okay to keep kids out of Churches that teach morals and values.

Another thing that is not mentioned by the mainstream media is that Jared had an alter in his parent's backyard where he could worship Satan or whatever he believed in (or didn't believe in). Of course the media can't start writing about this, because then they'd have to quit writing about how Conservatives are the cause of it all.

It should also be mentioned that the courageous dad of the 9-year-old girl who was killed said that what Jared wanted to cause was change. He said that the last thing we should do is change anything. He is right. He said you should not want things to change. You should not want more restrictions over society.

Well, anyway, I'm no expert on killings. I'm no expert on evil people. But I do know there is no proof conservatism has anything to do with what Jared did. Progressives see Gifford as leading a controversial life. They see conservatives as controversial. This is where they get the link. Yet it's poppycock.

In response to the media accusing her, Sarah Palin had this response on her facebook page:

President Reagan said, "We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions." Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own. They begin and end with the criminals who commit them, not collectively with all the citizens of a state, not with those who listen to talk radio, not with maps of swing districts used by both sides of the aisle, not with law-abiding citizens who respectfully exercise their First Amendment rights at campaign rallies, not with those who proudly voted in the last election.

Again, I see no reason for people to own more than what is needed for protection or hunting. Yet I do know that there is no problem with guns and no problem with society. The problem is with the attitude of the kid.

Media made idiotic Quran burning an issue

Rev. Jerry Jones is the leader of a small (less than 50 people) church in Florida that was going to burn Quran's in a display of discontent over a Mosque that was planned to be build during ground zero.

A few days ago Jones said the burning would be off because Imam Muhammad Musri said he would stop the Mosque from being build near ground zero.

Ah, but it appears Musri either lied or Jones misunderstood him, because Musri has now officially said that he told Jones no such thing: that the plans to construct the mosque are still on.
So, as you can read the most recent report here, is the quran burning still on, or is it not? The burning was planned for September 11, 2010, so I suppose we'll have to wait to see.

Yes, burning the Quran is legal in the U.S. and should be. And it is highly likely Muslim organizations around the world would use this as a display to show how much American discontent there is of the Muslim world.

In my common sense view, both sides lack common sense. When Muslims burned bibles (as you can read here), many Americans saw it as moronic and senseless and a sign of an intollerent peoples and an intollerent religion.

Burning Qurans is moronic and as stupid as when Muslims burn Bibles, especially for a Christian minister. Christianity became a great world religion because it is tolerant of others.

Other than the religious wars of the 1500s, Christians have been a very tolerant religion. It's a religion that encourages people to live their lives well, be good to themselves, live long, and be good to others, regardless of religious affiliation, and you'll get to Heaven.

And burning of the Quran is, in my view, anti-Christian. It's stupid. And the Reverend who proposes this should lose his job. In the Muslim world, if he were to propose this he would have already have been beheaded.

We don't behead in the Christian world. In our world, you have a Constitutional right to burn whatever you want (in most places and within limits). Yet you still don't have a moral or ethical right to do it. You don't have a Christian right to do it.

As a leader of a Christian church, the Rev. Jerry Jones should be ashamed of himself. Even if he doesn't go through with the burning, he created a stir that was not Christian -- not tolerant -- at all.

Yet you'd think that since there are only 50 people in his church this entire ordeal wouldn't neven have been known about, except for the media making an issue of it.

So if the media was so concerned about the Muslim world's conception of this issue, if it truly wanted to do good, it never would have reported on it in the first place.

That's right! The quran burning, or the threat thereof, is meaningless. It means nothing. Yet the media, in typical fashion, has made a mountain of a molehill.

And this is yet another perfect example of media ignorance.

Tired of the political bull crap from Washington

Do you want Obama to succeed at whatever he does regardless if what he does is against the will of the people, and regardless if what he is proposing to do will end the United States as we currently have it. Now I understand this might be exactly what Obama wants -- to end the U.S. as we currently have it -- although that is not the goal of most Americans.

So when you have people out there who oppose this bill, such as the American people and republicans in the House and Senate, they definitely ARE out to stop this bill just so that Obama has a failure behind his resume. And the only reason they want to stop Obama on this is not because they are against healthcare reform or improving the economy, it's because they want the U.S. to continue to be the greatest country in the world.

And, if Obama gets his way with cap and trade and his version of healthcare reform, the United States will be changes. It's economy will tank, and countries like China will be able to take a front seat. Maybe even a country like Copenhagen will be able to tell us what to do on global warming, and the democrats will have a lot more poor people who are needy, on the government dole, and forced to vote democrat because the democrats are the party of hope.

Sorry folks, but if Obama is going to have a program that I think is anti-American, I cannot sit idly by and watch it happen. Well, actually I will considering I'm a humble RT, but I will continue to vote for the party that he is not.

I wrote all along that I suspected Obama hated America and would do whatever possible to destroy it in the guise that he was going to do something good. "Well, we need healthcare reform," he says, "We have the worst healthcare system in the world." Is it? Is it really. Where are the people lining up in the streets? Where are all the sick and wounded and dying and chronically ill protesters who aren't receiving medical care? Where are they?

"Wel, we want to make sure 41 million people who are uninsured get the healthcare they deserve." Well, you want to provide healthcare to 41 million people, when only 24 million will admit to wanting healthcare. And you want to destroy healthcare for the other 250 million who do have healthcare at the expense of fixing it for the few who don't. Is that fair? Is that what this country is all about? Punishing those who have at the expense of those who have not, especially when the have nots have NEVER been turned down by any medical institution.

I can't believe this is going in in America. I can't believe liberal democrats and republicans are complaining about republicans wanting to stop this bull crap when that's exactly what it is -- bull crap. It's bull crap in the guise of a gift to America.

Unhappy people are destroying the planet.

Sometimes I think the people over in Copenhagen, and the business leaders and politicians who buy into what they are trying to sell to us, are nothing but miserable, unhappy people who will be unhappy no matter what they do.

These people believe the world is going to come to an end in ten years if we don't change the way we life, drive different cars, tax ourselves and get rid of the capitalism that has given nearly every person on this planet a chance to better their lives.

These people are miserable, and they will not be happy unless they spread their misery on every one in the world. Those that are miserable and running this country want to tear it down so that other countries can get a chance to rule the world. They want to get rid of the U.S. Constitution because other people might have ideas and philosophies to force on us that our Constitution otherwise protects us from.

Thus, we must not limit ourselves to what is legal under the Constitution. We must have a World Legislation making laws that we must follow. We must have laws telling us how to raise our kids, and that we must never spank. Hence, they know what's best for you and me. You'll have unhappy people in England telling you how to raise your kids, and unhappy people in Copenhagen telling your boss he had to buy a billion dollar piece of equipment that allows his factory to emit 10% fewer CO2 emissions or he will have to close his doors and un-employ the 200 people he has working for him.

And you will have World Courts with the jurisdiction to enforce these laws to make sure that you didn't "accidentally" pat your unruly child in the butt. Oh, and did you buy a fur coat? Did you buy a rifle? Sorry, can't do that. Prison for you.

These unhappy people create fake pandemics based on fake science, and they create hoax theories based on fake science so that we are so scared to do the things we like that we live in a box. They want us to be poor. They want to destroy our economy. They want to destroy the way we live. And we are letting them.

This is why it's important to have free thinkers like you and me. That's why it's important we have individual sovereignty, state sovereignty and country sovereignty. And if you don't know what sovereignty is, perhaps you ought to pick up a book and read it.

You can always tell who these folks are, because they are never happy. You can't debate them, because they don't want to know your happy side of the story. They don't want to hear that your dad is happily retired in Florida. He'll want to tax your dad so he pays his due because his happiness is destroying the planet.

Sorry! What's really destroying the planet is not capitalism, democracy, greed, wealth, gas, or CO2 emissions. If there's anything going to destroy what we have on this planet it will be unhappy, miserable people.

Blagojevich deserves fair trial, still a pinhead

There are some things that Chicago governor Blagojevich says that makes a lot of sense. I honestly believe he should not be treated as though he were guilty of anything until he is given a fair trial.

However, that said, an impeachment trial is not exactly the same as a trial among your peers. It's merely a bunch of Senators who are set to decide whether Blago should be fired or not.

Still, I think he should do the honorable thing and step down. I think all this talk about doing the right thing is fine, but he should stop putting himself before his state. He is being selfish in his PR attempt -- whether he is right or not.

He should be honorable and step aside with whatever pride he has left like Nixon did. Nixon also did not get the trial of his peers. He may also have been innocent. However he decided to step down rather than put the American people through an impeachment trial.

Nixon also did not call for a recount in 1968 when a recount may have put him into the office of the president that year. He did the honorable thing by not putting his country through that (unlike Al Gore).

Nixon also paid a consequence, as history looks upon him as a "crook." Whether or not he really was a crook (and I've seen evidence to both sides), will really never truly be settled. But, needless to say, Nixon set aside his own popularity for what was best for his country, which is what any loyal political leader would do.

So, while Blagojevich is right that he is being judged prematurely, he should also do the honorable thing and step aside. However, he shows no intentions of doing this. For that reason, he is a pinhead in my view.

To Obama's dismay, Farrakhan endorses him

Some people have called Obama the Messiah because the way people worship him. They call him that in good humor.

Calypso Louie Farrakhan called Obama the Messiah not in good humor, but seriously.

You are the instruments that God is going to use to bring about universal change. And that is why Barack has captured the youth. And he has involved young people in a political process that they didn't care anything about. That's a sign. When The Messiah speaks, the youth will hear. And The Messiah is absolutely speaking.

This is not good timing for Obama's friends to be saying things like this, especially when republicans are tyring to tie Obama in with this crowd. Just as Obama is trying to distance himself from his friends and mentors Farrakhan says this.

Come on Washington; you can do better than this

One of the things we like to do on this blog is correct people when they are wrong, even when it comes to the Maverick.

He said today that Obama is wrong on the economy, and his tax and spend policies "will deepen our recession."

I hate to be the one to break it to you, Mr. McCain, but we are not yet in a recessoin. In fact, the economy grew 3% last quarter. To be a recession the economy has to fall 2 consecutive quarters, and it fell only one quarter this past year.

I'm not saying we're not in economic trouble, we are. We are in economic trouble because of policies adapted by politicians in Washington. We are in trouble because politicians in Washington made decisions that effect the economy without involving economists.

It's kind of like when we go to war, or when we are managing a war, we need to listen to troops and generals on the ground and not leaders in Washington. The same thing goes for the economy.

When are our politicians going to get it. They are tinkering with our money. Many of them have no clue what they are doing. And yet they still tinker with our money.

I'm talking about the bailout. I'm talking about the legislation they passed that forced banks to loan money to people who couldn't possibly pay off the loans.

Today I was talking with a bankruptcy lawyer friend of mine and she told me she blames part of this financial mess on the 2005 bill that made it harder for people to file for bankruptcy. So, intead of filing, they had to default.

It's all because politicians in Washington who didn't know the slightest thing about banrkruptcy and the economy and banking passed this law, even before one bankruptcy lawyer read it.

Bush has done many good things, but he is not the conservative King we were looking for. McCain is even more liberal than Bush. Obama is the King of liberalism and leader of the modern Socialistic movement. Congress, including 1/3 of republicans and 60% of democrats who voted for this bailout bill have no clue either. Hence the 9% approval ratings.

You want to know why Bush's approval ratings are so low, it's because of stuff like this. You want to know why Congress's approval ratings are so low, it's because of stuff like this.

I can tell you guys that I'm adamantly opposed to this bill. I think we can put our intelligent minds together and come up with a solution far better than this. But Washington's desire to do something stupid just to show that they are doing something seems to be at the top of their list.

Which seems funny to me, considering a huge majority of Americans are opposed to this bailout plan. Did you know that 700 billion dollars will pay the yearly salaries of more than 20 million Americans.

If Obama was so for the middle class, he'd can this bill and propose giving this money to people like me and you -- not that I'd be for that either even though it might benefit me for a year. Well, it would benefit me for only a year, and that IS why I'd oppose it.

This bailout bill is pure D demogoguary.

If I were a member of Washington, I'd rather be the most unpopular goon on top that hill rather than do something stupid just to get re-elected. But that's just me.

Oberman not even close in his prediction

Like many of my fellow bloggers who like to get a fair view of opinion and analysis from a variety of voices, I like to flip through the news channels, particularly after watching political events and speeches.

After John McCain's speech, I so happened to click over to MSNBC where the opinionated Kieth Oberman was talking. He said, "There is one thing I can tell you for sure about this speech, it will not come even remotely close to the 40 million that Obama received last week."

I paraphrased there, but I think I did him justice.

Well, McCain did get 40 million viewers. In my humble opinion, Mr. Oberman should heed the example of Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams and keep his opinion under wraps.

On a side note, I was surprised that MSNBC allowed Mr. Oberman to be the commentator during the political speeches given the fact he continually slams republicans.

It's fine for him to have an opinion, as even I want to hear his opinion, but he should have been on the program as a political analyst if he wanted to state his opinion. He should not have been the commentator.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons MSNBC is viewed as a liberal TV network, and why it trailed every other news network, including the three major networks, in the TV ratings department during all the major convention speeches.

Stop smoking in front of your kids. Period.

I don't usually do this, but I want to share with my fellow political bloggers something I wrote for my other blog, Respiratory Therapy Cave.

This is an issue that could be discussed in ethics class at some lengths. Or, better yet, a great topic for Stupid People 101.

What do stupid people do? Stupid people smoke in front of their kids, that's what they do.

I'm so sick and tired of taking care of kids because their parents are too stupid to know better. Kids do not know any better, and therefore it is the responsibility of parents to create a safe, clean and healthy environment for their kids.

Smoking in front of your kids is not safe, clean nor healthy. In fact, it is just plane stupid and irresponsible. It may have been acceptable 50 years ago because people didn't know any better, but there is so much information out there, there are no more excuses for this kind of stupidity and ignorance.

The fact is, smoking in front of little boys and girls is hazardous to their health if they have healthy little lungs, let alone bad lungs already.

I'm not a fan of making a laws just because, but I'd be willing to make an exception for a law to make it illegal to smoke in front of kids. Then I could take half the mom's who bring kids to the hospital and put them away for 30-90 days for causing their kids to get sick. Maybe that's what's needed to knock some sense into them.

Tonight I took care of yet another little boy who was having an asthma attack. And I didn't even need to ask my usual 101 questions to know the mom smoked in front of her child, as they both smelled of smoke. Yet I asked anyway, and the answer was a nonchalant, "Yes."

Pathetic, I say. Just pathetic. Pure stupid.

Is there any way possible that any parent in existence in the United States today can possibly not know how stupid it is to smoke in front of their kids, let alone a kid with asthma.

You sit there and watch your kid have an asthma attack. You love your child so much that you take him to the ER when he is having an attack, yet you don't know enough to not smoke in front of him. How stupid. How stupid you are.

Let this peon of an RT tell you something: If you want to ruin your own lungs and your own life by smoking, you have that choice. Your son doesn't have the same choices you have. He has to live in the atmosphere you create.

It's your job to protect him. Do not destroy his life too. Don't smoke in front of him.

That is the thought of the day. Thoughts anyone.
