Gitmo should be fixed and stay open

Newt Gingrich is on meet the depressed this morning. The discussion right now is around closing Gitmo. I was to the point I didn't see a difference between closing Gitmo and putting the "terrorists" in American prisons and keeping it open, until Gingrich spoke this morning.

Basically, what convinced me that Gitmo should be kept open, as Newt says, until the end of the War on Terror -- however long that might be, because "whatever problems that are associated with Gitmo now are going to be present no matter where you hide those people. Therefore, instead of moving the problem, we should solve the problem where it exists today."

Obama said in a speech this past week said terrorists are using Gitmo as a recruiting tool, and a greater incentive to terrorize. I think this is just another statement by Obama in which he is blaming America for terrorism. When, in fact, these terrorists are the bad buys, and they are the blame.

The blame is their extreme religious beliefs and hatred of anyone who loves material things and believes in a different God should die.

So, in summary, we should keep Gitmo open and do whatever it takes to prevent Gitmo from being a terrorist recruiting too. It can be done.

Pirates of Somalia are terrorists

By now you know that Captain Richard Phillips was rescued when American naval snipers swiftly used bullets to kill his captors -- wasting nothing. It was an impressive end to an otherwise dangerous mission.

Whether President Obama had a hand in this is open to speculation, yet he should and has done everything in his words to take credit for this. He is the commander in chief, he gave the order to shoot if a life was threatened, and the navy seals followed orders.

This is something that shows the mite of America, whereas no other country could have accomplished what was accomplished here: the bad guys are dead, and all the good guys are now safe.

This is a perfect example that America must not give in to calls by other nations to dumb down our military. We also must not give into calls from our own leaders in Washington to make cuts in our military.

And, most important, we must not as a nation treat these incidences as domestic violence that should be treated as criminal activity by the criminal justice department or military. It must be treated as the terrorist activity it is, and dealt with by the military.

So, Obama made the right decision to call for swift action in rescuing the captain. He said he wanted to negotiate, but if the life of the captain was at stake, swift action should be taken. Negotiations failed, and swift action was taken.

As we learned during the Carter and Clinton administrations foreign policy decisions in North Korea, negotiations with terrorist thugs never work. What they do is empower the terrorist to terrorize more, to kidnap more, so they can get what they want in the end.

Obama must come to the conclusion that these terrorists, like Al Qaeda, are not foreign contingencies, and they are not criminals: they are terrorists.

And there is only one way to deal with terrorists: take them out at their home base. It's time for the American military to go into Somalia and finish a project that was started during the Bush 41 presidency.

A+ grade to our government for keeping us safe

Seven years ago tomorrow our nation faced the greatest terrorist attack in American history. It was a disaster of incomparable proportions.

Since that day, our government has done a remarkable job of protecting us and preventing another terrorists attack. In fact, our government deserves an A+ grade in this area.

Despite all the terrorist attacks on our soil, at U.S. embassies around the world, before 9-11, there have been ZERO attacks since that day. There has not been one attack in a bus station, not one attack at an embassy, not one attack on a military base, not one attack at an airport.

The fact that there has been ZERO terrorist attacks has been nothing short of remarkable. The George Bush administration, U.S. Governors, Senators at the state and federal level, Congress men at the state and federal level, local communities, and the American people in general should all be given accolades for this major accomplishment.

Everything our government has done, including the War on Terror and the Iraq War, the surveillance program to catch terrorist thugs trying to communicate with Americans, have been very successful in thwarting every terrorist attempt at attacking America. The terrorists have failed and failed every time since 9-11-01.

Al Qaeda is but a fraction of what it was on 9-11, and may not even be capable of functioning the way it did when preparing for the attacks on 9-11.

Not only that, but America has done a marvelous job of promoting democracies abroad, particularly in that nation that once was a terrorist safe haven in Iraq. I think there are over 20 million people in that nation who once lived in fear under a totalitarian dictator now have their God given freedoms.

And, for every new democracy, that is one less country that wishes to destroy us. For, as history as my evidence, there has been only one time in world history where two democracies have gone to war with one another (and you can do your research to find out when that war was, and between what nations).

America is safer and, as a result the world is safer. While some in this country, and some individuals world-wide still fail to see the terrorist threat, the administration leading the U.S. has been steadfast and determined to not only see the threat, but that threat down where the threat is started, rather than wait for more people to die as a result of doing nothing.

Take a look at the picture that's attached to this post. So long as we take great care in who we elect to lead us, that will never happen again. We must elect people who will never take away the tools that work. We must elect people who will never give Constitutional rights to terrorists.

We must elect people who will never forget the failed government policies that lead to 9-11.

WE MUST NEVER FORGET 9-11.

According to the U.S. Constitution, the number one priority of the U.S. Government is to protect our freedom. Our government has done that and done it well for seven straight years. If anything good can come out of 9-11, it's that we have learned never to be blind to those who are at war with us.

God bless America, and on this 7th anniversary of 9-11, God bless our Government for keeping us safe.

Mr. Carter, Hamas does not want peace with Israel

In the wake of Jimmy Carters speaking with Hamas, the leaders of that group claim to have offered Carter a deal that would amount to "a ten year truce with Israel if Israel agrees to withdraw from all the lands it seized in the 1967 war," according to the associated press.

According to the article, "Hamas would accept a Palestinian state limited to the lands Israel seized in 1967 — an implicit acceptance that Israel would exist alongside that state

"But... the group would never outright formally recognize Israel."

To me, however, this deal seems a bit awkward, especially considering Israel won that land back in 1967 fair and square, and every other time one nation wins a war over another, it gets to take whatever it wants from the losers. So, why is Israel considered to be "seizers" of this land it won in 1967.

In reality, Israel did not seize the Gaza strip and the West Bank, it won them. It has a rightful ownership of them. However, if Israel chooses to give back this land for the sake of an attempt at peace, it has a right to do so.

Once again, this deal would seem a bit awkward, considering that during the Clinton administration's Camp David Accords, Arafat (then head of the Palestinians), was offered everything the Palestinians wanted, and all he had to do was sign on the dotted line.

But, when all was said and done, he refused to sign. What makes Carter think the Palestine ans would actually sign this time around?

The failure of the Camp David Accords gave many Conservatives their proof that Arafat and the Palestinians do not want peace with Israel. They will talk the talk in order to make themselves appear good in the public eye, but when it comes crunch time, there's no way they would ever make any deal with the Israelites anything short of the complete annihilation of Israel.

Thus, if deal did go through, I smell a rat.

Do we take Hamas at its word? Do we do this, considering Hamas's charter specifically calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and its replacement with a Palestinian State. Likewise, the organization has directed many suicide bombings at civilians in Israel in an attempt to accomplish its goal.

Hamas, in Essenes, is a terrorist organization. And, one must conclude, that Carter is relatively naive to actually think hamas is actually serious about agreeing to any long-term peace pact.

Until Hamas changes its charter to fully accept Israel as a Nation State, and until it completely stops terrorist acts against Israel, how is it than any person could believe anything Hamas's leaders say. And, as long as the Palestinians have Hamas officials leading them, how can we take the Palestinians seriously either.

With history as our guide, Hamas and the Palestinians want Israel to agree to this deal in the hope that one day Israel will let its guard down, at which time Hamas will move in for the strike and destroy Israel.

In essence, we return now to the doctrine: "You cannot negotiate with terrorists. Period."

On this, Mr. Carter said prior to his visit, "This is a study mission, and our purpose is not to negotiate, but to support and provide momentum for current efforts to secure peace in the Middle East."

To that I say this: "Mr. Carter, Hamas does not want peace with Isreal. Read their charter."
